PURPOSE:To improve the utilization efficiency of an image memory of plural bits by outputting selectively a writ4e enable signal to only a write object plane memory designated by a write plane designating memory in a register. CONSTITUTION:A write plane designating data from a control processor is set to a register 21 through a control bus 14 and a data write bus 12. In this state, a gate circuit 22 outputs a write enable signal 32 from a memory controller 19, to only (n) pieces of plane memories corresponding to the 0-th-the (n-1)-th bits among each bit of the write plane designating data. Accordingly, by switching and designating the write object plane memories P0-P7, each plane memory can be used for storing a binary data. In such a way, with respect to an image memory block 11 consisting of (n) pieces of plane memories, a an access can be executed as a memory of an arbitrary number of planes of a range of 1-(n) bits, therefore, its utilization efficiency is improved.
