ADAPTIVE SAMPLING CODING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To easily attain a more fine adaptive processing by setting the rate of the 1/8 mode, 4/8 mode and 8/8 mode so as to minimize the correcting distortion under the band compression ratio of an entire given screen. CONSTITUTION:The video signal is divided into a moving region and a still region by using a difference signal between frames and the moving region signal is used as an input signal 1. After the input signal 1 is subjected to distortion reduction and distortion increase calculation at every block, a histogram memory 5 is revised sequentially. Moreover, the distortion reduction and distortion increased obtained as above are written in a memory 8. In applying the processing over one field, the histogram used finally for the mode distribution is obtained. The boundary condition is obtained during the field blanking period after that by using the band compression ratio calculation circuit 6 and a distortion calculation circuit 7 and the compression mode is decided at every block for the next one field.
