PURPOSE:To aim at the longevity of a tool, by processing a coated layer of the coated cemented carbide tool, having an intermediate layer interposed, by means of a cold chemical vapor deposition process, lessening formation of a decarbonizing layer with the coating of the intermediate layer, and improving both of chipping resistance and impact resistance. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a cemented carbode base substance, there is provided with a coated layer where such an intermediate layer that is richer in toughness than this base substance and increases its hardness continuously is interposed. This coated layer consists of a single layer or a plural layer among a carbide, a nitride, a carbonic nitride, an oxide, an oxycarbide, an oxy nitride of 4a, 5a, 6a group metals and an oxy-carbonic nitride, an aluminum oxide, and it is formed by means of a cold chemical vapor deposition process covering and processing at a temperature of 700 deg.C-900 deg.C. Therefore, a strong drop by mainly a decarbonizing layer at the time of coating with formation of the intermediate layer is prevented, from occurring and, what is more, impact resistance and chipping resistance both are improved, thus tool life is prolongable.
