PURPOSE:To remove the low-b.p. impurities in a chemical substance by one tower, by providing a tray for a vapor-liq. equilibrium between the steam inlet of the condenser of distilling equipment and a cooling part. CONSTITUTION:The tray 6 is provided below the cooling part 9 of the condenser. The vapor coming in from the inlet 1 is passed through the openings 7 of the tray 6, brought into contact with the condensate of the chemical substance on the tray 6, and sent to the upper cooling part 9, wherein the desired chemical substance is condensed and dropped onto the tray 6. The temp. of a refrigerant to be used in the cooling part is set at a temp. lower than the b.p. of the chemical substance and higher than the b.p. of the low-b.p. impurities, and the greater part of the low-b.p. impurities is discharged from a cooling gas outlet 2. The low-b.p. component mixed in the condensed chemical substance is dropped onto the tray 6, brought into contact with the vapor fed from the vapor inlet 1, and regasified. Consequently, the low-b.p. component in the chemical substance can be removed.
