PURPOSE:To save labor required for coating, make the coating operation efficient and improve precision and quality for the operation by providing a common rack which is fitted to a plurality of profile adjustment screw shafts and mounting a ratchet clutch which can be controllably turned independently on the screw shaft. CONSTITUTION:A widthwise basis amount for coating before and after coating is detected by means of BM gauge, and a coating work volume is arithmetically determined by a difference between the detected value. After this, the ratchet clutch 29 of an adjustment screw shafts 24 at parts in which the applied paint quantity is much is excited at the time of forward travel of a rack 35, permitting the screw shaft 24 to rotate. Further, the ratchet clutch 29 of the screw shaft for adjustment 24 at parts in which the applied paint quantity is small is excited at the time of return of the rack 35 to reverse the screw shaft 24. As a result, the widthwise pressure to a blade 4 by a loading tube 36 can be automatically adjusted by adjustment of the drive-in amount of an adjustment screw. A highly responsive and uniform profile is thus obtained, contributing to the upgrading of coating quality.
