PURPOSE:To improve sliding properties and resistance to heat, by a method wherein at least a skirt part in a composite material piston is formed by an aluminum material, and a whisker material is mixed in the aluminum material, and an aluminum film layer is formed on a slide part. CONSTITUTION:A composite material piston 10 engaged with a cylinder liner 5 of an engine formed by a ceramic material is formed with a piston head 1 and a piston skirt part 2. In this case, in the composite material piston 10, its skirt part 2 is formed by an aluminum material formed by an aluminum material or s mixture material of alimonies and aluminum oxide. A whisker material 11 formed by, for example, aluminum fibre, is mixed in the skirt part 2. An alumina film layer 4 is formed on the slide part, positioned facing the cylinder liner 5, of the skirt part 2. This constitution increases rigidity, decreases the coefficient of thermal expansion, and improves sliding properties. |
