PROJECTING TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PURPOSE:To set up a distance between a liquid crystal light valve and a Fresnel lens to a distance more than the focus depth of a projection lens and to obtain the image of high definition by arranging a spacer or a light transmitting layer between the Fresnel lens and the liquid crystal light valve. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal light valve 3 and the Fresnel lens 7 are laminated on a light reflecting layer 2 formed on a glass base 1 and light radiated from the lens 7 is reflected by the reflecting layer 2. The reflected light is transmitted through liquid crystal of which light transmissibity is partially changed by writing information and its transmitted light is converged into a projection lens 9. The converged light is projected to screen 10. A spacer 11 or a light transmission layer 21 is arranged between the lens 7 and the light valve 3 of the projecting type liquid crystal display device having said constitution. The reflecting layer 2 is made of a metal layer to be used for driving the light valve 3 and phase transfer tye liquid crystal is used for the liquid crystal 6.
