PURPOSE:To synchronize the head of an electrostatic latent image with that of copying paper by driving a register means for delivering the copying paper from a waiting position at a set copying scale factor, storing a generated timing signal and correcting the timing signal to calculate a timing signal to be used at the time of copying at another copying scale factor. CONSTITUTION:At the time of inserting an original into a guide plate 1, its head is detected by a sensor PS1, a solenoid SL1 is turned on, carrying rolls 10, 2 are pressed against each other, a stopper 11 is receded from a carrying course, and the original is carried in an arrow direction. At the time of detecting the head of the original by a sensor PS2, respective carrying rolls are temporarily stopped, previously selected roll-like copying sheets 30, 31 are fed and their heads are detected by a sensor PS6 and waited at the waiting positions PR of a pair to timing rolls 33. Then, the original is sent to an exposing position EXP at a speed corresponding to the set copying scale factor, an electrostatic latent image is formed on a photosensitive drum 20, and when the head of the original is set up on a reference position PS by a sensor PS3, a clutch is turned on and the copying paper is transferred to a position PT synchronized with the head of a toner image.
