PURPOSE:To obviate inconvenience for switching by a manual switch, by constituting an automatic answering telephone set so that it is switched to a speed and sound-recording function, when a handset of a telephone set is picked up in the source of sending out a response message of said set, and it becomes a holding state by on-hook. CONSTITUTION:When a call signal comes in, a relay Y-1 operates, a contact y1-1 is turned on and telephone lines L1, L2 are closed, and subsequently, a response tape T-1 is started. At the time of such a state, when a telephone set -1 is brought to off-hook state, a relay Y-3 is turned on, Y-1 is turned off, the contact y1-1 is turned off, y3-1 is turned on and a conversation can be sound-recorded by a sound-recording device A. When the conversation is ended and the telephone set is brought to on-hook state, the relay Y-3 is turned off and the device A is stopped, and the telephone set is released to a holding state. Accordingly, a manual operation by a switch becomes unnecessary, and inconvenience is obviated.
