PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition excellent in flexibility and electrical insulating property and useful as an electrical insulating molding material, a varnish or the like, by mixing a phenolic resin with a specified rubber-like elastomer. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. resol or novolak phenolic resin is mixed with 5-100 pts.wt. rubber-like elastomer (e.g., uncured natural rubber) of an SP-value differing from that of the phenolic resin by at most 4.0 (absolute value) and, optionally, a filler, an antioxidant, a curing agent, a plasticizer, etc., and the resulting mixture is melt-mixed to uniformly disperse the rubber-like elastomer in the phenolic resin matrix in a microscopic separation state.
