YARN PACKAGE OF CARBON FILAMENT YARN AND METHOD FOR FORMING THE SAME

Square-ended crosswound cheese-type package (10) of carbon filaments yarn is built to have multiple yarn traces generated by repeated traverses. A yarn trare is repeated every 1 to 9 traverse cycles, at a shifting ratio in the range 50 to 150% of the average yarn width on the package, i.e. so that lateral windings overlap is 50% max., or windings lateral spacing is 50% max. of yarn width. The shifting ratio is 75-125% of the average yarn width on the package, pref. 2 to 4 mm. Pref. the yarn is mfd. from acrylonitrile synthetic fibres. Winding angle decreases in the range 30 to 4 deg. during the build.
