<p>A gas rinsing block (1) for metallurgical vessels comprises for example a gas-tight shaped block (2) partially surrounded by a sheet metal sheath (3) composed of a casing (7) that surrounds the side outer surface of the shaped block and of a bottom welded to the casing that covers the lower side of the shaped block. A gas feed-pipe is welded to the edge of a central opening in the bottom of the metal sheet. To ensure an adequate and uniform gas flow through the marginal area located between the shaped block and the sheet metal sheath in so-called marginal rinsers, gas passages extending up to the marginal area of the shaped block are formed in the area between the lower side of the shaped block and the bottom of the metal sheet. To form appropriate ducts (30) the sheet metal casing (7) is shrunk on to the shaped block (2), covering the ridges (29), and the ducts (30) remain clear next to the ridges (29).</p> |
