PURPOSE:To lessen a scope of limitation to the inner diameter of a workpiece such as a core by providing a clamp device with a rotary mechanism and turning the workpiece by the predetermined angle per coil, actuated by the rotary mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The titled device comprises a clamp device 8 for holding a hollow core 9, a hooking rod 10 having a wire hooking groove 17 formed there on and a power transmission mechanism for reciprocating vertically the rod 10 through the hollow core 9. And a wire to be coiled is hooked to the groove 17 of the vertically moving rod 10, thereby coiling the wire around the core 9. And in the coil winding device so comprised, a rotary mechanism is provided for the clamp 8 and the core 9 is thereby made to turn by the predetermined angle per coil. As the diameter of the hooking rod 10 is small and the wire to be coiled is fed from the outside, the wire is consequently coiled without any damage even to a core of small diameter refusing troidal winding with a conventional shuttle system.
