PURPOSE:To improve the sufficient resolution of each signal by applying addition/subtraction to a luminance signal Y and color difference signals (R-Y), (B-Y) at a prescribed rate in a single image pickup element color television camera equipment so as to obtain output signals, R (red), green (G), and blue (B) signals. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal Y and color difference signals (R-Y), (B-Y) obtained by applying signal processing to the output of an image pickup element are added/subtracted at a prescribed rate to obtain R, G, B signals. The R<G and B signals are expressed by Y, (R-Y) and (B-Y) as R=Y+(R-Y), B=Y+(B-Y) and G=Y-0.5(R-Y)-0.19(B-Y). Thus, the R, G, B signals are obtained simply by the luminance signal Y and the color difference signals (R-Y), (B-Y) and then the R, G, B outputs of a color television camera using a single board system image pickup element are obtained.
