PURPOSE:To accomplish gasification and desulfurization of coal in high efficiency, by converting raw coal to a gas stream and coal ash in the lower tier gasification bed of a single-column type two-stage fluidized bed followed by secondary gasification and desulfurization simultaneously in the upper tier secondary gasification- desulfurization bed packed with metal-carrying dolomite granules. CONSTITUTION:Coal particles charged through the specified position is brought into contact with a gasification stream made up of an air and water vapor charged through the bottom of the gasification bed in the lower tier gasification bed of a single-column type two-stage fluidized bed under conventional gasification conditions to produce a gas stream and coal ash. Thence, said gas stream and coal ash are fed, through the specified position, to the upper tier secondary gasification-desulfurization bed provided with a fluidized bed consisting of metal oxide-carrying dolomite granules designed to be replenished if needed, the sulfur compounds in said gas stream rising from the lower tier gasification bed being removed using a hybrid desulfurization agent formed by contact between said dolomite granules and coal ash, while said gas stream is secondarily gasified; and the resulting desulfurized gas stream is recovered through the top of the single-column type two-stage fluidized bed, thus accomplishing the objective gasification and desulfurization of coal.
