In order, in the case of forceps, in particular surgical coagulation forceps, having two arms which are interconnected at one end and can be resiliently pressed against each other and a guide which is arranged between the two arms, to ensure secure guidance of the two arms also against lateral tilting, it is proposed that a guide block is held on the inside of one arm as first guide element, in which guide block there extends a groove extending in the longitudinal direction of the forceps and open towards the other arm, and that a second guide element in the form of a web running parallel to the groove is held on the inside of the other arm, opposite the first guide element, which second guide element penetrates into the groove in the first guide element.
