<p>The cylinders have their lower ends closed by end caps and a piston is slidably mounted in them, and the wall of each cylinder is perforated so that the whey which is forced from the curdled milk during compression by the pistons, passes through the perforations into an annular chamber between the cylinder wall and an outer jacket. The compressed curd in ejected from the lower ends of the cylinders after removal of the end caps, and the whey is exhausted from the chambers. Previously manual processes are automated.</p> |
