PURPOSE:To accurately count the number of times of jumping of a track with simple constitution of software by using an on-track signal by a tracking error zero cross signal and counting the latch signal. CONSTITUTION:If a track jump is started, an on-track signal from an on-track detector 10 of a tracking device and a zero cross signal from a tracking error zero cross detector 6 and an edge detector 16 are fed to a FF 12, the on-track signal is latched by the zero cross signal and a Q output of the FF 12 goes to a high level. The latch output inverted to the H level by the initial zero cross signal is counted by a microcomputer 8 and the of times of jumping of the track is counted accurately with simple software constitution even if the zero cross signal is detected in error on one and same track.
