NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (R is amino or protecting amino: R<1> and R<2> are alkyl or substituted alkyl; R<3> is H, carboxyl-protecting group or negative charge; R<4> is in ion bond when R<3> is negative charge and pair ion of pyridinium group when R<3> is not negative charge). EXAMPLE:7beta-[ 2-( 2-Amino-4-thiazolyl )-2-butenoylamino ]-3-( 1-methyl- pyridinium-4-ylthio )methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylate. USE:An antibacterial agent against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. PREPARATION:For example, a 7-amino-3-(1-substituted pyridinium-4-ylthio)- methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid shown by formula II is reacted with an alpha-(4- thiazolyl)-acrylic acid shown by formula III in the presence of a binder to give a compound shown by formula I.
