PURPOSE:To prevent breakdown by static electricity of an electronic component by forming a short ring by a resilient metallic piece, elastically bringing the short ring into contact with a lead on the side surface of the electronic component by the resiliency of the short ring and mutually short-circuiting all the leads. CONSTITUTION:When a short ring 5 is mounted to an electronic component 1, the short ring 5 is brought into contact elastically with all of leads 2 on the side surface of the electronic component by the resiliency of the short ring, thus mutually short-circuiting all the leads 2 for the electronic part positively by the short ring 5. The short ring 5 holds the electronic component 1 by resiliency thereof, thus preventing the falling of the short ring 5 during the transport, etc., of the electronic component 1. The short ring 5 can be fitted to the electronic component 1 until the leads 2 for the electronic component are connected completely to a circuit pattern on a printed wiring board, thus keeping the state of the short-circuit of the leads 2 during the packaging work of the electronic component 1. Accordingly, the electrostatic breakdown and characteristic deterioration of the electronic component can be positively prevented.
