PURPOSE:To reduce the contact resistance of an Ag-Ni type electrical contact material and to improve the welding resistance by adding specified amounts of CdO and WC to the contact material. CONSTITUTION:A powdered mixed starting material consisting of 2-20wt% Ni and the balance Ag is mixed with 0.1-10wt% CdO powder and 0.1-5wt% WC powder. The mixture is calcined in a gaseous Ar atmosphere for 4hr, and the calcined body is rolled and drawn to manufacture an electrical contact material. The contact resistance of an Ag-Ni type electrical contact material is reduced by adding CdO, and the welding resistance is improved by adding WC, so an electrical contact material having reduced contact resistance and improved welding resistance can be manufactured. |
