<p>1296643 Electrical distribution systems LIGHTOLIER Inc 24 May 1971 [16 Sept 1970] 16584/71 Heading H2H An electrical power distribution assembly comprises an elongated, rigid channel 10 having generally vertically directed side walls 12, 13 connected by a transverse web 14, the lower edges of the side walls 12, 13 defining a continuous access slot, the web 14 having a plurality of spaced apart access cut-outs formed therein and a plurality of electrical conductors 34, 35, 36 being supported in the channel 10 by means of insulating members 28, 29. The channel 10 is supported by means of C-shaped clips 20 which encircle rigid ceiling supports 19 and engage grooves in the channel 10. The insulating members 28, 29 may be separate members as shown in Fig. 2 or may be formed as a U- shaped member having cutouts in the connector branch which cutouts positionally correspond with those in the web 14. The ceiling tiles T forming a suspended ceiling may be supported along one side of the channel 10 by a flange 11 forming part of the side wall 13 and along the other side of the channel by a clip having a shoulder 62, the arrangement being such that the tiles and clips are removable for access to the upper part 26 of the channel 10. An electrical fixture 40 can be attached to the channel 10, mechanically by a fitting 41 and locking member 43, and electrically by means of a plug member 44 and conductive contact members 45, 46 which are caused to contact conductors 34, 35 by rotation of the plug 44. Electrical fixtures fitted in the ceiling may be connected to the conductors 34, 35, 36 from above the channel through the cutouts in the web 14.</p> |
