The invention relates to a playing arrangement for electronic musical instruments which are supplemented with one or more sequencers. The player plays this playing arrangement with his feet. The playing arrangement, which can be designed both exclusively for the control types according to the invention and additionally for the control types of normal direct playing without sequencer, generates control signals which act simultaneously on the sequencer(s) and the sound-generating and sound-forming arrangements and control these in such a manner that the running tempo and temporal insert displacements can be changed continuously in a stepless or stepped manner; any addressed sound events can constantly be selected before or during running; running can be started, interrupted and restarted at any point in time; the volume and/or sound colour, even multichannel, can be changed constantly in a stepless or stepped manner. Two running modes, automatic and step-by-step running, are provided. In the case of automatic running, the running tempo can be set firmly, counted in both metronomically and by impacts. In the case of step-by-step running, the running program is moved forward in a step-by-step manner with one foot by impact, while the inserted sound events can be repeated as required by impact with the other foot.
