PURPOSE:To provide the titled halogen-free composition outstanding in flame- retardancy, mechanical strength, electrical properties, etc., generating no toxic gas even in case exposed to flame, comprising an olefin resin, hydrated alumina, etc., and borate of specific metal element in specified proportions. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising (A) 100pts.wt. of an olefin resin (pref., a straight chain polyethylene with a density 0.91-0.96 and melt index 0.1-10 prepared by polymerization of ethylene under reduced pressure using as the comonomer 4-10C olefin), (B) 50-250pts.wt. of hydrated alumina and/or hydrated magnesia, and (C) 0.1-8(pref., 0.5-5)pts.wt. of a borate of group VIII, IIa or IIb metal element (e.g., Mn, Zn, Mg). |
