PURPOSE:To always fix the level of a reading signal by reading out and monitoring an once written signal, setting up the writing current to an optimum current based on the monitored result and writing the optimum current signal. CONSTITUTION:A reference writing current is set up by a writing current setting circuit 10 and supplied to a writing circuit 4 by a writing current circuit 7. The writing current is switched based on an input signal from a writing signal inputting terminal 6 and made to flow into a head 2 to write the signal in a magnetic recording medium 1. The signal is detected by the head 2, amplified by a reading circuit 3 and integrated by an integrating circuit 9 through a buffer circuit 8 and the optimum writing current corresponding to a DC voltage outputted from the circuit 9 is set up in the circuit 10 to rewrite the set signal. Consequently, writing current is optimized in accordance with the level of the reading signal and the reading signal level can be always fixed.
