PURPOSE:To contrive the improvement of maintenability by providing a monitor circuit monitoring an electric signal and a selector inputting/outputting an electric signal for test externally to/from a line through which the electric signal is conducted between a converter and a transmission/reception circuit in an optical interface section terminating an optical signal so as to facilitate the segmentation of a fault of an equipment handling the optical signal. CONSTITUTION:A light inputted from an optical transmission line is converted into an electric signal by an O/E converter 2, the output of a selector 8 is monitored by a monitor circuit 6 and sent to the equipment via a reception circuit 4. Moreover, the electric signal sent from the equipment is monitored by a monitor circuit 7 and inputted to a selector 9, which connects selectively the input line to an E/O converter 3 or an external equipment B. If a fault takes place in its equipment by using the monitor circuit 6 to observe the electric signal, whether or not a correct signal comes from the opposite equipment connected via the optical transmission line is discriminated. Thus, the fault between the opposed equipment and its own equipment is segmented without removing the optical transmission line from the equipment. |
