PURPOSE:To prevent a light shielding piece from damaging by allowing into contact with the end surface of an optical fiber by inserting the light shielding piece which has thick and a thin parts movably into the gap between end surfaces of optical fiber sleeves which are arranged opposite to each other. CONSTITUTION:An operation shaft 13 which is energized by a spring 14 in a housing main body 11 moves up-and-down freely and the light shielding piece 19 is fixed on its flank. The end surfaces of the sleeves 16A and 16B of optical fibers 15A and 15B are put opposite each while the specific gap is left and the thick part 19a of the light shielding piece 19 inserted into the gap passes between the end surfaces of the sleeves 16A and 16B and the thin part 19b passes between the end surfaces of the optical fibers 15A and 15B. When the operation shaft 13 is pressed, the light shielding piece 19 is lowered to make the optical path conductive and released to cut off the optical path. The light shielding piece damages neither of the end surfaces of the optical fibers by contacting and high-reliability optical switch operations in performed. |
