PURPOSE:To increase the sharpness of a sensitive material and to reduce color stains and color fog by incorporating a two-equiv. coupler into a photosensitive emulsion layer and a specified compd. into a nonphotosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:The titled sensitive material has red-, green- and blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers and nonphotosensitive layers. One ore more of the emulsion layers contain a two-equiv. coupler and one or more of the nonphotosensitive layers contain a compd. represented by the formula and/or a precursor of the compd. unstable to alkali. The nonphotosensitive layers are preferably close to or adjacent to the emulsion layers contg. the two-equiv. coupler. In the formula, each of R1 and R2 is H, halogen, sulfo or the like, X is -CO- or -SO2- and R3 is alkyl, aryl, a heterocyclic group or the like. The sensitive material has superior sharpness, graininess and color reproducibility and color stains and color fog are reduced.
