PURPOSE:To prevent the course of laser transmitted beams from being changed at a driving time and a non-driving time by bringing into contact a face for fixedly supporting an acoustooptic medium partially with a metallic plate for supporting the acoustooptic medium. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 2a, 3a are formed on the contacting faces of a case frame 2 and heat radiation plate 3 with the acoustooptic medium 1 and the case frame 2 and the heat radiation plate 3 are brought into contact with the medium 1 only at portions close to the piezo-electric element of the medium 1 and close to an inclined face opposed to the piezo-electric element. Thereby heat generated in the medium 1 in the vicinity of the element and the inclined face 14 at the time of driving the medium 1 is radiated from the case frame 2 and the heat radiation plate 3 and the inclination of heat distribution in the elastic wave advancing direction in the medium 1 is removed. Since refractive index distribution generated due to heat distribution is removed, refractive index in the medium 1 is uniformed even at the time of its driving and the course of the laser-transmitted beams is not changed at the driving time and the non-driving time.
