PURPOSE:To enable the prevention of the lifting and peeling of a film due to linear expansion thereof when heated, without any increase in tack, by providing a self-adhesive layer on one side of a base film made of a plastic having a specified coefficient of linear expansion. CONSTITUTION:A film for surface protection obtained by providing a self-adhesive layer on one side of a base film made of a plastic having a coefficient of linear expansion at 80 deg.C of 1.5% or lower. Examples of base films to be used include a film formed by T-die extrusion of a homopolymer comprising, e.g., a thermoplastic polyolefin (especially low-density polyolefin) resin such as a polyethylene or a polybutene; and a film formed by T-die extrusion of a copolymer prepared from a combination of comonomers selected from ethylene, propylene, 1-butene, etc. One side of the base film may be subjected to corona discharge treatment to improve the anchorage between the self-adhesive and the base film.
