PURPOSE:To form a tooth form with high accuracy by a simple constitution by pushing a stock housed in a punch hole of the lower die, into a cavity by pressing the lower punch, in a state that the tip of the upper punch is projected by a prescribed quantity into the cavity. CONSTITUTION:The projection height is set to a prescribed value in a cavity of the upper punch 3a housed in a punch hole 4a of the upper die 1a, and thereafter, a forging stock 5a is housed in the lower punch hole 4b, and the upper die 1a and the lower die 1b are brought to spotting and closed up completely. Subsequently, the lower punch 3b is pushed into a small end side cavity 2b whose tooth form is cut, and between the upper punch 3a and the lower punch 3b, the forging stock is compressed and deformed. In such a way, a loss of energy caused by a friction between the die and the stock is reduced, a small forging force is enough, and no immoderate force works on the die, therefore, a life of the die is extended.
