PURPOSE:To enable steering ratio to be decreased despite the rapid operation of a handle and to avoid a hazard, by providing a correcting means which displaces the steering ratio characteristic in the reverse phase direction in accordance with a steering speed and a car speed when the steering ratio is placed in a control condition of the same phase. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with an output of a car speed sensor 101, a number of reference operating steps of a stepping motor 50 in proportion to a car speed is calculated by a number of reference steps arithmetic part 102, and the reference steering ratio characteristic is obtained by actuating said motor 50. Here a number of reduction steps arithmetic part 118, which inputs output signals of a steering speed sensor 117, detecting a steering speed of a steering wheel, and the car speed sensor 101 or the like, is provided in a control unit 100. And the control unit, when steering ratio is in a control condition of the same phase, corrects the steering ratio characteristic so as to be displaced in the reverse phase direction in accordance with the steering speed and the car speed. In this way, a hazard is avoided before occurrence by enabling the steering ratio to be decreased even when a handle is rapidly controlled. |
