PURPOSE:To provide a rubber compsn. for tire tread, which has excellent wear resistance and suppresses heat buildup, by blending a rubber component with carbon black having a nitrogen adsorption surface area within a specified range and an aggregate size distribution index within a specified range. CONSTITUTION:Carbon black of which nitrogen adsorption surface area (N2SA) falls within hard region of 100-200m<2>/g and aggregate size distribution index (T) defined by formula I satisfies the relationship of formula II. In the formulas, DELTADst<50> is the half width (nm) of Stokes mode diameter distribution of the aggregate determined by centrifugal sedimentation; DELTADst<75> is the 3/4 width (nm) of Stokes mode diameter distribution of the aggregate; R is the max. absorbance of Stokes mode diameter distribution of the aggregate. 35-100pts.wt. carbon black is blended with 100pts.wt. rubber component to obtain the title rubber compsn. for use as a material for the tread of large-size bus tires.
