PURPOSE:To improve operability of a continuous input mouse device by deciding the moving direction of a mouse with manual input and storing the information on said moving direction into a memory incorporated to the mouse. CONSTITUTION:This mouse device counts the pulse trains outputted from an encoder 8 by a pulse counting circuit 9 and transmits the position information to a position output device 13. In this case, a pulse count value holding memory 11 is provided to hold the information on the cycles, for example, of the pulses counted by the circuit 9. Then the memory 11 functions to connect a switch 10 to a terminal 2 to store the pulse signals. Furthermore, the stored signals can be used any number of times and the continuous same signals are obtained. Thus, the operation of the mouse device is facilitated with no deterioration of accuracy.
