Outlet valve safety for road or rail tanker

A tanker car or wagon for transporting gas or liq. has an outlet valve fitted in the floor of the tank. The valve head (6) is normally held closed by a spring (15). The valve is opened by connecting a chamber (38) between the valve head and a fixed piston (5) to a source of pressure. The lower part (1) of the valve is clamped against the underside of the tank floor (27) by a clamping ring (31) which is secured by studs (26) and nuts (35). A flange (25) of an outlet pipe (24) is also secured by the studs with additional nuts (36). A shearing neck (37) is formed in each stud between the clamping ring and flange.
