PURPOSE:To improve head touch and to prevent generation of a drop-out by forming the sectional shapes in the sliding contact surfaces at the front end of a magnetic head to the arc shapes the respective central parts of which project and specifying the projecting quantity within a specific range from the ends of the sliding contact surfaces. CONSTITUTION:The sliding contact surfaces 15a at the front end of the magnetic head 15 are formed to the arc shapes having the perpendicular section shapes in the traveling direction of a magnetic sheet and a radial direction, the central parts of which project. Only the part within the range where the projecting quantity from the end parts of the surfaces 15a are within a specified value contacts the magnetic sheet when such head 15 is pressed to the sheet and is slid while the sheet is held curved. The good head touch is, therefore, obtd. by determining the projecting quantity regardless of the widths La, Lb and radii Ra, Rb of curvature at the front end of the head. A satisfactory result is obtd. merely by specifying the projecting quantity in a 0.2-0.9mum range. The head touch is thereby improved and the generation of the drop-out is prevented. |
