Unit for tree-handling, for example at least branching and cross-cutting, and of the type which is arranged to be suspended with its stand from a crane, which unit comprises gripping members, arranged pivotably in the stand, for tree-gripping, branching members, two of which are each connected to a respective gripping member, feed wheels for feeding felled trees through the unit for branching and cross-cutting of the tree. In order to achieve a secure grip with a unit of this kind and prevent movement between the gripped tree and the unit irrespective of tree diameter, the feed wheels 5 are supported in the stand 6 for simultaneous pivoting movement about their respective axle 7 independently of the gripping members 2, in which case whenever the feed wheels 5 are pivoted one towards the other their mutually facing peripheral surfaces 27, having passed a position in which they are parallel with a vertical plane of symmetry A through the unit, increase their angle to the said plane, further to which the two said branching members 3 can be pivoted to a limited extent relative to the adjacent gripping members 2. <IMAGE> |
