The automatic device for opening and closing the edges of the translucent film 40 includes a closed-circuit hollow tube filled with a fluid which is sensitive to temperature changes so that this tube, placed inside the cultivation tunnel, experiences these said temperature changes which cause changes in pressure of the fluid generating the movement of at least one piston which rotates the drum 55 which pulls a cable 38 which, by means of a special carriage composed of elements 59, 60, 62 and 64, rolls up the edge of the translucent film 40. As the film is rolled up, the carriage is raised, guided by two arches acting as rails. A temperature drop leads to the cable 38 being released, which enables the rolled-up translucent film to be unrolled under its own weight and under that of the tube 41. <IMAGE>
