In order to convey materials in a suspended manner during building work or when renovating buildings, use is made of block-carrying baskets which fully enclose the materials to be transported, such as blocks and equipment, with the aid of a cage. The disadvantage with these block-carrying baskets is that they cannot be charged from the side, with the result that scaffoldings and building openings can only be supplied using additional projecting structures. The object of the invention is to produce a block-carrying basket which can be charged from the side, an optimum degree of safety being ensured for the operators and for passers-by. This object is achieved by a block-carrying basket (1) which is composed of a suspensible cage which is enclosed on all sides apart from the front side and is produced as a load-bearing element, of a rolling carriage (2) which raises or lowers stone slabs, of rails (4) which are mounted in the lower part of the basket, project from the front side and in which the rolling carriage (2) runs, and of a closable front door (5) of the block-carrying basket (1).
