<p>PURPOSE:To secure safe driving and prevent loss of power consumption by providing an automobile with a surrounding light sensor and controlling lighting of a headlamp in accordance with the output of the sensor. CONSTITUTION:If a change-over switch on a console panel near a driver's seat is set to an automatic position, a lighting sensor 1 detects darkness of the surroundings and transmits an output to a lighting switch 71 which is then turned on to activate a main-low beam switch 81. If there is no car running in the opposite direction, no output is generated from a main-low beam sensor 2 disposed in the forward position of the body, so that only a main beam lamp 3 is turned on. If there is a car running in the opposite direction, the light therefrom is detected by the main-low beam sensor 2 which transmits an output to the main-low beam switch 81, so that the connection of the switch 81 is changed over to turn off the main beam lamp 3 and, at the same time, to turn on a low beam lamp 4. Therefore, failure to light to the lamp in the evening can be prevented, assuring safe driving, and loss of power consumption can be avoided.</p> |
