摘要 PURPOSE:To improve time division driving property, without changing the process and element constitution by weakening uniaxial orientation, thereby easily obtaining the titled element which easily displays high frequency wave stabilizing effect by merely effecting a rubbing treatment or not. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is obtd. by forming an org. film such as polyimide and polyamidoide, etc., and an inorg. film such as SiO, etc., which has the effect of horizontally orientating the liquid crystal molecule, on electrode surfaces of substrates 2 and 4, respectively, followed by rubbing only the film surface of one of the substrates. The spiral axis 12a of the liquid crystal molecule or the normal line of the layer near to the film surface of a rubbed film 6a almost agrees with the direction of rubbing of the rubbed film 6a. But, the spiral axis 12b or the normal line of the layer near to the film 6b tilts with respect to the spiral axis 12a, whereby the apparent tilt angle becomes larger than the inherent tilt angle of the liquid crystal material. As the result, the radius of gyration of the polarization inversion becomes large, and the high frequency wave stabilizing effect can be effectively taken out.
