PURPOSE:To improve maneuverability and directional stability by making a steering wheel operation heavier at the time of starting or sudden acceleration of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A throttle opening signal from a throttle sensor 7, a vehicle speed signal from a vehicle speed sensor 1, and a steering torque signal from a torque sensor 2 are inputted to a controller 3. At the controller 3, a throttle opening speed is calculated from the throttle opening signal and further an acceleration is calculated from the vehicle speed signal. A power assist amount is determined based on the throttle opening speed and the steering torque by a map. With this constitution, it is so controlled that the assist amount when an accelerator pedal is suddenly depressed at the time such as when starting or sudden acceleration becomes small. |
