Due to the lack of convenient protective devices, currently the saddles and seats of cycles are not covered or are only covered in a few cases and then inevitably only provisionally with films, covers and the like against the effects of the weather. In order to provide the rider of a cycle (bicycle, motor bicycle, moped, motor cycle, scooter) at any time with a protective cape which is ready for use and can be removed again quickly and conveniently, the invention relates to a type of cape which optionally protects the upper region of the cycles or the rider. For this purpose, the weather-proof cape which can be extended and retracted by the roller method by a spring-clamping roller, present in a round housing which is attached to the handle bars, saddle-bag or luggage carrier and is provided with laterally mounted blinker lamps is hooked onto suitable points on the vehicle by means of attachment hooks or attached below the rider's back with a tension strap. The cape produced from a suitable material has a head cutout and a hood to be used optionally which can be removed from a pocket mounted on the inner surface and can be connected to the edge of the cutout by snap fasteners or a touch-and-close fastener.
