The device is used for an image provided by a t.v. camera (3) on-board a missile (1) flying over the target area controlled by a flight processor. The video signals (VS) are fed to a tuned bandpass filter (16) with adjustment of the filter characteristics in dependence on the image coordinate signals (X,Y) of the target to be identified, to allow the target image size to be adjusted in correspondence to the image perspective. The filter output is fed to a comparator (21) which compares the signal amplitude with a reference signal (Uref) to allow the target zone to be indicated on a display monitor (23), e.g. via colour coding. The video signal (VS) and the image coordinates (X,Y) are fed to the display monitor (23) via delay elements (24,25,26) tuned to the reaction time of the bandpass filter (6).
