PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the weld crack of stainless steel irradiated with a high dose of neutrons by setting the welding condition so that no helium bubble may deposit on grain boundaries. SOLUTION: In a method for welding stainless steel irradiated with a high dose (>=10<18> n/cm<2> ) of neutrons, a hot ray, such as the electron beam, YAG laser beam, carbon dioxide laser beam, etc., having a low or high heat input density is used and the amount of welding heat input is set to <=0.04 kJ/mm<2> , and then, the cooling rate when the weld is cooled to 773 K from 1,273 K is set to >=738 K/sec. It is preferable to lower the amount of heat input by performing narrow scarf welding at the time of performing TIG welding. |
