Locking apparatus

The lid (2) of a storage box (1) has a lock with a spring-loaded locking cam (3) which fits in a catch recess (7) in a catch housing (6) when the lid is closed. A transducer member (11) responding to a central locking system is positioned on the storage box. There is a reversing linkage (23) with one end attached to the transducer member and the other end attached to the catch recess housing for actuating a locking hook (9) entering a pivotable catch opening (10) of the locking cam. Preferably, the locking hook can be unlocked against the force of a spring (25).
