PURPOSE:To improve SNR without generating sliding noise by opposing one point of high electric resistance thin film ferrites constituting thin film closed magnetic poles to each other via a micro-rear gap. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic head has a nonmagnetic substrate 9, a magnetoresistance effect element 5 formed on the substrate 9, and the thin film closed magnetic poles 1, 7 in which both ends of the element 5 are directly magnetically coupled to the magnetic poles of the high electric resistance thin film ferrites, the high electric resistance thin film ferrites constitute the closed magnetic poles and the magnetic poles of a recording and reproducing gap are laminated perpendicularly to the surface of the nonmagnetic material 9. The high electric resistance thin film ferrites 1, 7 have the structure in which the ferrites face each other via the micro-gap. Since the magnetoresistance effect element 5 is not exposed on the sliding surface with a magnetic disk, there is no direct contact of the element 5 and the generation of the sliding noise is obviated; therefore, the signal to noise ratio (SNR) is improved to a greater extent. |
