PURPOSE:To enable an action relative to the selection of colors of characters which are printed on a printer capable of selecting the colors of characters to be printed by providing a filter which masks an object color. CONSTITUTION:A printing output steel 1 of a printer which is to be checked is read as multivalued data by scanning it with an image input part 2 (at that time, a filter is set OFF), and is stored into an image memory 4. The cumulative value of pixels per row in 'x' direction and line in 'y' direction is written into a cumulative value storage 7 by a control 9 and in this way, data relative to pixel distribution is stored. Next the filter 3 of the image input part 2 is turned ON (a state in which an image is received through the filter), and again the printing output sheet 1 is to be scanned and read as multivalued data. After this, the data is to be stored into the image memory 4, and pixel distribution is obtained in the same manner as with the case mentioned above. A judgement part 8 judges whether or not a mixed color exists in a printed character and outputs the result by comparing the pixel distributions and detecting the difference. |
