In a method for sorting wastes, in particular communal waste, the waste is put into an impact mill with variable grinding parameters, such as an adjustable grating or adjustable impact bars and/or an adjustable grinding path, the grain-size distribution of different material fractions of the comminuted waste leaving the impact mill is measured, and the at least partly comminuted waste is put into at least one sieve. In this case, at least one sieve with a sieve cutoff line at a relatively minimum of the material-specific grain-size distribution or material- specific grain-size distributions adjacent to the cutoff point is used, and the grinding parameters are adjusted as a function of material-specific grain-size distribution curves in such a way that pronounced minimum and/or cutoff points of adjacent material-specific grain- size distribution curves result.

|
