PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of the title printer, by a method wherein one ribbon cassette is reversed with respect to the other ribbon cassette to mount both cassettes in up-and-down relation and take-up spools are connected to one ribbon feed drive shaft to change over two ribbon cassettes up and down corresponding to a printing direction. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon cassette 13 and a ribbon cassette 13a are mounted on a ribbon cassette guide 9 so that take-up spools 14, 14a are connected to one ribbon cassette drive shaft 8 and the ribbon cassette 13a is set on a lower side and the ribbon cassette 13 is set on an upper side. Therefore, at the time of the forward movement of a carrier 2, the drive part 8b of the ribbon feed drive shaft 8 meshes with the take-up spool 14 of the ribbon cassette 13 of the upper stage and a ribbon is taken up in the direction shown by an arrow A. At the time of the return movement of the carrier 2, the ribbon feed drive shaft 8 meshes with the take-up spool 14a of the ribbon cassette 13a of the lower stage and the ribbon is taken up in the direction shown by an arrow B. As a result, an inexpensive bidirectional transfer printing type printer requiring only one ribbon feed drive shaft and having simple constitution is obtained. |
